In another new feature we take a look at the hidden talents and passion projects of our staff. This month we find out about Libby Bull’s role at educational and networking resource NEWH and the talented new students they are helping onto the ladder.

As Senior Designer and Project Manager at the G.A Design London office, Libby Bull’s knowledge and experience of the hospitality industry made her the ideal candidate for Director of Scholarships at NEWH, a role that allows her to support and encourage the next potential generation of hospitality designers through a scholarship program that offers the successful applicants two years free membership to NEWH and all of its resources plus £1,500.

This year, for the first time in the UK chapter of NEWH – the student entries were opened up to several Universities, with applications received from Nottingham Trent, Brighton, Ravensbourne and Middlesex. Through the generosity of NEWH members & sponsors, the organisation was able to award four students scholarships.

Students were asked to use their latest university project and then adapt, if necessary, to fit the brief. They were given seven weeks to complete their application which asked students to present a concept for one of the following:

  • Pop up café /hotel pod from shipping contains
  • Work/Stay/Play office and hotel complex based on old Shoreditch Tea warehouse
  • The New Millennial apartment

We showcase the winning four projects below.

The 2018 NEWH Award for Ideology: Irina Goldtmane

The 2018 NEWH Award for Integrity: Georgia Barton
