London Pied-à-terre

A clean and contemporary interior that embraces classical balance and proportions.
This striking property is set within the eaves of an historical building in the heart of London. The brief was to strip out the apartment and reconfigure all areas to accommodate for social gatherings and a growing family's needs. The emphasis was on maximising all available space and natural light.
Inspiration was found in the neo-classical and art deco details of the building which were reinvented to create a modern and sophisticated penthouse design which still captures the essence of the original building.
Nature's colour palette
The apartment features a relaxed yet sophisticated material palette with earth tones that play on the organic textures of wood and Italian stone. The architectural finishes are a combination of carefully selected marbles with elegant veining, warm timber and bronze finishes set against a neutral backdrop.
Linear motifs
Hints of texture achieved through fine fluted plaster panels framed in bronze add contemporary detailing which is repeated in the master bathroom, this time on the front of timber cupboards and doors.
Design continuity
Architectural patterns influenced by the art deco architecture extend to soft furnishings and textures as a finishing touch to the overall design. Art & antiques bring further personality to the space.
Eclectic touches
Bold Italian marbles have been used in unique applications to add unexpected flashes of pattern which also delineate space, providing interest and visual definition.
