Langham

Langham is such an iconic brand that we wanted to ensure our designs communicated the story of the hotels’ grand history.

Spaces have been reinvigorated with contemporary design elements combined with sophisticated and classic references.

In order to give the hotel a high-end residential feel, rich, elegant materials and Colonial-style features have been introduced, aiming to produce unique yet timeless spaces for the guests to enjoy.

Much of the iconic artwork has been re-used helping to blend elements of old and new and key pieces of furniture, such as the cabinet used to sell the Flavours of Langham, adds a unique luxurious but homely accent to the Lobby.

A light-filled arrival

On entering the Lobby at the newly renovated Langham Sydney, the guest is greeted with a fresh and light space of luxurious and rich materials that hark back to the historical splendour of the Langham Portfolio. The space features a stunning floor of Calacatta marble with a simple Art Deco inspired design and a large central reception desk of gold leaf crackled porcelain with solid marble top.

In order to help achieve a greater volume to the space, the Lobby area has been extended and the grand staircase has been removed which floods the new Lobby with natural light improving the overall ambiance of the room.

Palm Court

Citrus golds and shades of teal adorn the elegant and striking Palm Court. With decadently sized tub chairs and a formal yet relaxed layout the room makes an ideal space for the renowned Langham afternoon tea. The design of this new space at the Langham Sydney was heavily influenced by the English heritage of the Langham brand and the tradition of the “tiffin tea”, the aim being to give the historical tea ceremony a contemporary re-vamp.

The beautiful gold-studded central banquette seating and painted colonial style shutters continue the theme of a luxury residence whilst a feature display counter of bespoke tiffin tea canisters adds a unique and quirky element to the space. A feminine touch adds further depth to the design with delicately embroidered floral cushions and sumptuous petaled rugs.

By evening Palm Court provides a sophisticated backdrop drop for a signature Langham cocktail expertly prepared at the leather and stone bar which acts as a slightly more masculine focal point and doubles up as the Bar for The Dining Room.

The buffet table is designed to serve fresh food prepared in the show kitchen but also provides the flexibility to be sectioned off for private dining

Guestrooms

The luxurious guestrooms have been designed to maximise the residential feel with designated areas for sleeping, relaxing and dining, each area having its own character. Painted shutters opening onto terraces, high ceilings, and panelled walls continue the reference to Langham’s colonial heritage whilst a bespoke curved lacquer bar gives a personal feel to the room. The linen feature bed with studded headboard adds to the high-end luxe feel of the whole room and colours have been kept light and classic with splashes of more vibrant teals and golds accented in the cushions and accessories.
