2025 Outlook | What Will Define Luxury Hospitality Design
27th November 2024 | Curiosity Bites
In an exclusive conversation with Emma Kennedy for SPACE Magazine, Terry McGinnity, Executive Design Director at G.A Group, reflects on our rich history and his journey since the early years, working on some of our most pivotal projects and shaping our legacy. After making the bold move from Australia to immerse himself in the world of hospitality design, Terry’s career at G.A Group has been nothing short of transformative.
While pivotal projects like the St. Regis Osaka, W Hotels: W Taipei and W Shanghai and Corinthia London provided valuable context for the discussion, the heart of the conversation lay in G.A’s distinctive approach to design and our more recent projects. Terry dives into the design and challenges for Atlantis the Royal, 1 Hotel Mayfair and Rosewood Schoss Fuschl while highlighting how our architectural foundation is central to our creative process, saying:
“We are sculptured because we have a strong architectural base. We look carefully at the bones of a building—the form and the line. When you get the bones right, everything else falls into place. Although our focus is on interior design, we use our architectural background as a skill set. It helps us understand a space more—making us more aware when it comes to structural matters, which in turn helps a job move forward. It drives integrity and gives us better grounding in a positive way.”
This unique perspective and our resonance process allows us to approach each project with precision and depth, blending form with functionality to create designs that resonate. Terry explains that our team’s method is deeply collaborative, with an emphasis on crafting spaces that tell a story and create lasting impressions.
The interview not only celebrates our past achievements but also underscores our commitment to creating spaces that form deep and emotional connections. For Terry and our team at G.A, it’s about more than just design — it’s about understanding the essence of a space and ensuring it delivers an unparalleled experience for all who encounter it.
